Mesa Verde National Park, located in Colorado, is home to some of the best-preserved cliff dwellings in North America. The Ancestral Puebloans built these remarkable structures into the alcoves of steep canyon walls over 700 years ago. One of the most famous dwellings, Cliff Palace, is the largest cliff dwelling in the park, containing around 150 rooms and 23 kivas (ceremonial spaces). Archaeologists believe it housed approximately 100 people at its peak. The intricate construction and strategic location suggest a deep understanding of engineering and resource management, showcasing the ingenuity of the Ancestral Puebloan civilization.
